Norwegian chieftain murdered by Olafr Tryggvason for keeping the heathen faith. Olafr slew him by forcing a horn down his throat, then putting an adder into the horn and heating it until the snake escaped into Raud's stomach. On this day, we give worship to all those folk who died rather than giving way to Christianity.

The day is sacred to the chief goddess of Old England, Frigg, whose followers were called the Freefolk. Although she is associated with the distaff, not all areas of life under her guidance are about work:
